Forbes Names Israeli Leader One of World's Top 10 in Tech

Forbes Magazine has named Shmuel "Mooly" Eden, the president of Intel Israel, as one of the world's 10 most brilliant technology professionals. Eden was among 10 senior directors named in the Fortune 500 project.
Others on the list included Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod designerJonathan Ive; vice president of GoogleAndy Rubin; Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos; and Barnes & Noble CEO William Lynch.
"Did you think the PC market was oversaturated? Mooly Eden wants you to think again," Forbes wrote. The magazine commended Eden for the "ultrabook," a light, durable laptop, and foreseeing that it would make up 40 percent of the laptop market this year.
Eden, who began at Intel Israel in 1982, currently manages the Intel innovation division. Intel's Sandy Bridge processors, which were developed in Israel, and the Ivy Bridge processors, which are primarily produced in Israel, allowed Eden's division to collect almost 40 percent of Intel's revenue from laptop processors.
When the new Ivy Bridge processors become available on the market and Windows 8 is launched, Eden has said his ultrabook will get the final push it needs to become successful.
"We believe that in the next few years more people will buy computers like these," Eden told Ynet. "They aren't competing with tablets, but rather are intended to form a new category. Intel believes that people need not only to look at content on tablets but also to work and create content, and the ultrabooks offer an excellent solution for both," he added.
Previously, Eden worked at Intel as the director of the company's research and development center, where he oversaw the development of Intel's Centrino and Pentium processors. He advanced to become vice president and marketing director of Intel's laptop chip development division in 2004.
Up until the beginning of 2012, Eden served as a senior vice president of Intel global. Intel had originally announced that Eden would be made CEO of Intel Israel, but then reversed its decision and announced that he would work alongside CEO Maxine Fassberg as president. Fassberg, who joined Intel just one year after Eden, was named as one of the 10 most powerful women in tech by CNN in April.
